Tom Stofka Garden

The Tom Stofka Garden serves as a living tribute to the man who acted as the primary guardian of Brooklyn's trees for over two decades. Dedicated in May 2006, this entrance garden to McCarren Park commemorates Tom Stofka, who served as the Director of Brooklyn Forestry until his passing in 2004. During his tenure, Stofka oversaw critical milestones for the borough's landscape, including the completion of the first comprehensive street tree census and a vigorous, successful campaign to combat the arrival of the invasive Asian Long-horned Beetle.
