A giant red boot perched high above the storefront signals the entrance to Allens Boots. It stands on South Congress Avenue as a fixture of the neighborhood. When the shop opened in nineteen seventy-seven, the area felt different, and owner Clemens Price filled the space with nothing but boots. He turned a collection of stock into a destination for musicians, locals, and visitors. The walls remain lined with thousands of pairs, reaching all the way to the ceiling on rolling wooden ladders.
