Bergisel Ski Jump

landmark

The Bergisel Ski Jump rises above the slopes of Innsbruck as a slender, silver tower that looks like a curved blade slicing into the sky. Architect Zaha Hadid designed this structure to replace an older jump, completing the concrete ramp in two thousand two. During the construction, workers poured concrete into a complex, aerodynamic form that mimics the fluidity of a skier in motion. It hosted major winter sports events, but also serves as a permanent landmark visible from almost every street in the city.
