The Edificio Maroy stands out for its curved, corner-facing facade that wraps the intersection of Avenida Central and Calle 12. Built in nineteen fifty-two, this structure brought a sharp, modern geometry to a neighborhood dominated by traditional, narrow colonial designs. Architect Rodolfo Dada hired Italian laborers who used imported steel and glass to create its signature rounded edges. The building served as the premier hub for the wholesale textile trade for decades, housing dozens of fabric merchants beneath its streamlined, cantilevered balconies.
