Villa Belle Rive

Villa Belle Rive stands out for its high, wrought-iron gate and the dense canopy of trees that conceals much of the property from the road. This former nineteenth-century manor gained its reputation through a famous guest who lived here in the nineteen thirties. During that time, the Irish writer James Joyce made the house his temporary home while working on his final book, Finnegans Wake. He spent his days in the garden, often composing segments of his writing while seated under the trees.
