Villa Victoria

historic

Villa Victoria in Cannes wears a coat of pale, rose-tinted stucco that distinguishes it from the surrounding stone villas. Built in the late nineteenth century, it served as a winter retreat for European aristocrats seeking relief from the cold. During the second world war, the house became a hiding place for resistance fighters who used its cellar to stash supplies and intelligence documents. Today, the villa serves as a private residence, tucked behind tall iron gates that hold their own secrets.
