Musée des explorations du monde

The Musée des Explorations du Monde occupies a medieval tower and chapel perched on the heights of Le Suquet. Its thick stone walls rise from the remains of a tenth-century castle built by the monks of Lérins. Baron Lycklama, a Dutch traveler who spent years in the Middle East, donated his massive collection of antiquities and ethnographic objects to the city in eighteen seventy-seven. These relics, spanning from the Himalayas to the Arctic, rest behind the same ramparts that once guarded the harbor.
