A la mémoire des agents de la SNCF tués par faits de guerre

A granite block stands near the Cannes train station tracks, topped by a bronze relief of a locomotive wheel entwined with a palm branch. This memorial honors the railway workers of the national rail company who died during the Second World War. When the tracks became targets for sabotage and the station faced heavy aerial bombardment, these employees stayed at their posts to keep the trains moving. One worker, Marcel David, died here while trying to extinguish a fire on a burning ammunition train.
