Espace Miramar

The Espace Miramar stands as a white, window-walled building sitting right at the corner where the bustle of the Croisette meets the curve of the bay. It began its life in the nineteen fifties as the first permanent movie theater in Cannes designed specifically to serve the growing film festival crowds. When the local projectionists went on strike in nineteen sixty-eight, the building became the epicenter of the protests that shut the festival down entirely, leaving the red carpet empty for the year.
