Villa Louise Marie in Carnot stands out for its high, yellow ochre facade and the decorative iron balconies that line the upper stories. Built in the late nineteenth century, the villa reflects the rapid expansion of Cannes when wealthy visitors flocked to the coast for the winter climate. In nineteen twenty-one, the property became the home of the writer and pacifist Romain Rolland. He spent his final years in exile here, surrounded by his extensive library and a quiet, enclosed garden.
