Hélène Vagliano worked as a translator, using her skills to intercept German communications and help Allied pilots escape. She was arrested by the Gestapo in nineteen forty-four, interrogated for weeks, and eventually executed in a nearby villa. Her name on the street sign marks her sacrifice against the Nazi occupation.
