Square Saint-Maur

park garden

Square Saint-Maur features a bronze statue of a crouching woman by the sculptor Marcel Gaumont. This small green space sits on the site of a former gas factory that operated during the nineteenth century. When the city replaced the industrial facility, they converted the land into a public park for the dense neighborhood. The statue, titled La Source, arrived in the nineteen thirties, standing as one of the few original artistic elements remaining from the park's early years of public use.
