The Théâtre des Variétés features a prominent neoclassical facade decorated with six large Corinthian columns that hold up a pediment filled with sculpted allegorical figures. Built in eighteen oh seven, it became the home of the vaudeville style in Paris. During its opening night, the theater faced a peculiar scandal when the prefect of police demanded the removal of a specific play because he believed it mocked his own wife. The playwright simply ignored him, and the show proceeded to run for months.
