Jane Birkin bridge

The Jane Birkin footbridge crosses the Canal Saint Martin with a slim, metallic arch that sits low over the dark water. It was renamed in twenty twenty-three to honor the English singer and actress who lived nearby for decades. Before this, the bridge lacked an official name, existing simply as one of many industrial crossings connecting the tenth arrondissement. The local residents successfully petitioned to name it after Birkin, recognizing her long, casual presence in the neighborhood cafes and along these very towpaths.
