Square de la Salamandre

park garden

Square de la Salamandre sits at the heart of the Charonne neighborhood in the twentieth arrondissement, occupying a site with a long history of transformation. The garden itself was created in 1988 by the architect Pierre Colboc, replacing land that once belonged to an eighteenth-century private country house. From 1836 until 1906, that estate functioned as a boarding school operated by the sisters of the Providence of Portrieux. Today, the square serves as a bridge between the busy commercial streets of the district and quieter, pedestrian-friendly pathways.
