Pension Belhomme

The Pension Belhomme began in seventeen sixty-eight as a humble asylum for the mentally ill, founded by a cabinetmaker named Jacques Belhomme. He discovered that caring for individuals with developmental disabilities or mental illness was far more profitable than his original trade. The facility gained early scientific attention when Philippe Pinel, a foundational figure in the history of psychiatry, conducted some of his earliest clinical observations on mental health within these walls.
