Tombe de Frédéric Chopin

Frédéric Chopin lies here at the Père Lachaise Cemetery, a site that has become a place of pilgrimage for music lovers from around the world. The white marble tomb you see is topped by an elegant sculpture of Euterpe, the Greek muse of music, who is depicted weeping over a broken lyre. This monument was designed by the sculptor Auguste Clésinger and installed in 1850, shortly after the composer's death at the age of thirty-nine. Even today, the grave remains almost perpetually adorned with fresh flowers left by visitors who come to honor the man known as the poet of the piano.
