Rue Denoyez - Graffiti

Rue Denoyez is a narrow, dead-end alley in Belleville where the concrete walls, shutters, and doors change their patterns and colors almost daily. Layers of spray paint pile up to an inch thick, created by local artists and casual taggers who operate with the tacit permission of the property owners. In the nineteen eighties, the street became a legal canvas to deter illegal vandalism, and it has stayed that way ever since, collecting a permanent, evolving skin of paint.
