Inside the auditorium, the decay continues with blackened walls and a stage floor that bears the scars of countless performances. In nineteen seventy-four, Peter Brook salvaged the space from demolition, choosing to keep the ruined aesthetic instead of repairing it. Actors now perform against a backdrop of peeling paint, with the audience gathered in an intimate, rough-hewn wooden amphitheater.
