Place du Tertre

Place du Tertre is a cobblestone square in Paris crowded with easels and portable chairs. It sits at the top of Montmartre, maintaining the layout of a village square from the eighteenth century. In nineteen oh six, Pablo Picasso moved into a nearby studio, and he and his friends spent their nights here trading sketches for meals at the local inn. Today, painters obtain official permits to work in the same spot, keeping the history of that bohemian era alive for visitors.
