La Cigale

La Cigale wears a distinct, curved facade topped with a large, gilded sign that catches the light from the boulevard. Originally a nineteenth-century music hall, it served as a lively venue for café-concerts where patrons drank and shouted over the music. In eighteen ninety-four, a young Maurice Chevalier began his career on this stage. He struggled to find his voice among the rowdy crowd until he finally discovered the charm that eventually made him a global star of the silver screen.
