Lapin Agile

landmark

The Lapin Agile wears a bright coat of pink stucco and sits huddled on the corner of the Rue des Saules. It started as a cabaret called the Cabaret des Assassins, but the name changed when a local artist painted a rabbit jumping out of a cooking pot on the front sign. In nineteen hundred and five, Pablo Picasso spent nearly every night here, paying for his meals and wine with drawings that the owner eventually sold for pennies.
