Musée de la Vie romantique

The Musée de la Vie romantique sits behind a pair of tall iron gates, identifiable by the narrow, treelined gravel path that leads to a pale green shuttered villa. Once the home of painter Ary Scheffer, the house hosted Friday evening salons where Frédéric Chopin played piano and George Sand discussed politics. Scheffer designed the property to be a quiet enclave for artists, and his studio still holds the original molding and portraits that defined the atmosphere of the Parisian romantic movement in the nineteenth century.
