Tomb of Jim Morrison

The grave of Jim Morrison is located in division six of the Pere Lachaise cemetery in Paris. Though Morrison was a major cultural icon and the lead singer of The Doors, his final resting place is surprisingly modest compared to the ornate monuments surrounding it. He arrived in Paris in early nineteen seventy-one, hoping to focus on his poetry and escape the pressures of his rock star life in America. He died in a bathtub at his apartment in the Marais district on July third of that same year at the age of twenty-seven. Because he died in Paris, he was interred in this cemetery, which houses many figures who were his own literary and musical idols.
