Square Emily Dickinson

This small public park in the twentieth arrondissement of Paris was once known as the Square des Ormeaux, or Square of the Elm Trees. The original name honored a row of elm trees that stood along this site as early as seventeen eighty. The park was officially renamed in honor of the American poet Emily Dickinson in late two thousand thirteen. This naming acknowledges the enduring international legacy of a writer who spent the vast majority of her life in a single house in Amherst, Massachusetts, yet used her poetry to explore the entire world.
