The building you are approaching was once known as the most compact grand theater in Paris. Its cramped quarters earned it the mocking nickname of the salt box because of its tiny floor space. Performers often joked that audience members in the front row could practically whisper the lines to an actor who had forgotten their script. Despite its limited size, it served as a premier venue for boulevard theater, opetta, and year-end revues throughout the early twentieth century.
