Grand Rex

You are approaching the Grand Rex, a building that was designed to be a self-contained city of entertainment when it opened in nineteen thirty-two. Its creator, the film producer Jacques Haik, was so ambitious that the original complex included its own internal police station, a medical clinic, a nursery for children, and even a kennel for patrons to leave their dogs while they watched a film. The building was modeled after American movie palaces like New York's Radio City Music Hall, intended to overwhelm visitors with a scale and luxury that felt entirely superhuman at the time.
