Musée des Arts et Métiers

The Musée des Arts et Métiers occupies the site of the former Saint-Martin-des-Champs Priory. This medieval abbey, which dates back to the eleventh century, now houses a collection of machines and scientific instruments from the industrial age. The museum was established in seventeen ninety-four during the French Revolution as a repository for new and useful inventions. It remains the oldest technical and industrial design museum in the world.
