Mémorial de la Shoah

The Mémorial de la Shoah has its origins in a clandestine effort during the Second World War. In 1943, while France was under Nazi occupation, a Russian-born industrialist named Isaac Schneersohn gathered a group of activists in secret at an apartment in Grenoble. Their goal was to create an underground archive that would systematically collect evidence of anti-Jewish persecution. They risked their lives to preserve documents that would later prove essential in documenting the crimes of the Vichy regime and the Nazi occupiers for postwar justice.
