Caveau de la Huchette

The Caveau de la Huchette sits behind a narrow, unassuming green door on a street that dates back to the thirteenth century. It began as a lodge for the Rosicrucians, a secret society that met in the tunnels beneath the cellar to debate alchemy and philosophy. By the mid-twentieth century, the space transformed into a jazz club where Lionel Hampton and Art Blakey played for packed rooms. The original limestone walls still dampen the sound exactly as they did centuries ago.
