Le Méridien de Paris

The Paris Meridian is an invisible line of longitude that runs directly through the Paris Observatory. For over two centuries, this line served as the primary reference for cartography, astronomy, and navigation across the world. Before the adoption of Greenwich as the international zero point, French scientists and explorers calculated the position of every place on Earth based on their distance east or west from this exact spot.
