Guy de La Brosse, the physician to the king, founded this garden to challenge the traditional medical teachings of the time, which relied heavily on ancient texts rather than hands-on observation. By creating a space where students could see and study living plants firsthand, he introduced a revolutionary approach to scientific education that prioritized empirical study over academic dogma.
