Musée d’histoire de la médecine

The Musee d’histoire de la medecine occupies the first floor of the Universite Paris Cite, distinguished by an expansive, nineteenth-century gallery lined with glass cabinets. It holds the collection of the former Faculty of Medicine, accumulated since the eighteenth century. Among the thousands of surgical saws, trepanation drills, and anatomical models sits a heavy wooden case containing a gilded silver chest. Inside rest the scalpels, needles, and forceps once used by the surgeons who operated on King Louis the Fourteenth.
