You are standing in front of the building at twenty Rue Monsieur le Prince. On this site, on the night of December 6, 1986, twenty-two-year-old student Malik Oussekine was beaten to death by two police officers. He was not participating in the nearby student demonstrations against university reforms but was instead returning home from a jazz concert. As he entered the lobby of this building to take shelter, he was pursued and struck repeatedly with batons until he collapsed, despite his desperate pleas that he had done nothing wrong.
