Musée du Parfum

The building housing the Musée du Parfum has a history that stretches far beyond the world of scents. Before it became a sanctuary for fragrance, this site served as the Eden Theatre, a lavish venue in the nineteenth century that hosted spectacular fairy tale ballets. Following its life as a theater, the space transformed into a training center where Parisians learned to ride the then-new invention of the bicycle. By eighteen ninety-six, the building had reinvented itself again, functioning as a store for the prominent English furniture maker Maple and Company. It was only in two thousand fourteen that the Fragonard perfume house took over this historic structure to establish its current museum.
