Passage Puteaux

Passage Puteaux connects the Rue de l'Arcade to the Rue Pasquier with a narrow, glass-roofed corridor. Built in eighteen thirty-nine, it served the neighborhood as a shortcut for shoppers avoiding the muddy, carriage-clogged streets of the time. When the merchant Jean-Pierre Puteaux purchased the land, he installed a collection of small boutiques aimed at the wealthy residents of the Madeleine district. A century later, the passage lost its commercial prestige, becoming a quiet, forgotten crease in the dense urban fabric of the eighth arrondissement.
