Hôtel Baudard de Saint-James

The Hotel Baudard de Saint-James stands at number twelve on the Place Vendome. It was built in seventeen hundred and two by the architect Jacques Gabriel for a doctor of the Sorbonne. The building eventually earned its name from its second owner, Claude Baudard de Saint-James, a powerful eighteenth-century financier who served as the general treasurer of the Navy and the Colonies.
