Square Samuel Paty

Square Samuel Paty is a small, quiet public garden located in the heart of the historic Latin Quarter, directly facing the Sorbonne university. Before it was renamed in twenty twenty-one, this green space was known as the Square de la Sorbonne and, later, the Square Paul Painlevé. Its current name serves as a permanent tribute to a French history and geography teacher who was killed in a terrorist attack in twenty twenty, an event that deeply affected the nation and sparked a national conversation about the role of educators in defending democratic values.
