Square Barye

Square Barye occupies the eastern tip of the Île Saint-Louis, a site that once belonged to the private gardens of the seventeenth-century Hôtel de Bretonvilliers. The garden took its modern form in the late nineteenth century following the construction of the Sully Bridge, which physically connected the island to the rest of the city and paved over the site of the former residence. It serves as a rare, quiet triangular refuge at the edge of the Seine, offering a view of the river that remains largely undisturbed by the bustle of central Paris.
