The Fontaine Louvois stands in a quiet square that exists because of a royal assassination. In eighteen twenty, the Duke of Berry was murdered outside the opera house that previously occupied this very ground. The theater was promptly demolished following the tragedy, leaving a cleared space that served as a somber void in the city for over a decade.
