Taj Mahal Mosque Agra

The mosque flanking the west side of the Taj Mahal is built of red sandstone, standing in sharp contrast to the white marble of the main tomb. Shah Jahan commissioned this structure in sixteen thirty-four to provide a place of prayer for the pilgrims and workers living in the complex. During the construction, laborers used the mosque as a shelter. Its red walls reflect the traditional Mughal architectural style, while the marble inlays mirror the delicate craftsmanship found throughout the entire garden.
