Kasuga Gorakujo

other

The Kasuga Gorakujo building stands out for its faded, mustard-yellow exterior and a facade covered in dense, tangled power lines that seem to pull the structure toward the street. Built in the late nineteen fifties, it served as a lively public bathhouse for the workers of Naniwa. Long after the boilers cooled and the bathers stopped coming, the building remained, housing small neighborhood shops on the ground floor. It holds the quiet, stubborn presence of a neighborhood that once moved much faster.
