Asakura Museum of Sculpture

The Asakura Museum of Sculpture stands out for its copper-clad exterior and the lush, private garden that winds around its core. Fumio Asakura, a master sculptor of the early twentieth century, designed this building himself in nineteen thirty-five as both a home and a studio. He lived here among his bronze cats and human figures, blurring the line between his living quarters and the gallery spaces where he displayed his work. The roof garden remains exactly as he meticulously maintained it.
