Tharabar Gate သရပါတံခါး

The Tharabar Gate stands as the sole surviving fragment of the old Bagan city wall. Its most distinct feature consists of two weathered, brick niches housing the spirits known as the brother and sister Nats. King Pyinbya built the fortification in the ninth century to protect his people, but these figures guarded the entrance. People still leave offerings of coconut and flowers here today, hoping for protection from the two spirits who once served as the gatekeepers of the ancient kingdom.
