Nagbahaa नागबहा

religious

Nagbahaa stands out for the sunken courtyard that sits several feet below the level of the surrounding street. This square, stone-paved space serves as a central hub for the local community, anchored by the prominent shrine of Matsyendranath. Local tradition connects this site to the arrival of the deity in the Kathmandu Valley, suggesting that the courtyard served as a resting place during the long journey from Assam. The weathered stone carvings along the perimeter still receive daily offerings from the neighborhood residents.
