The Sanwanchang Tea House features a low, gray tiled roof and a worn wooden facade that stands apart from the surrounding modern storefronts. It serves as a rare survivor of the old teahouse culture that once defined Suzhou. During the early twentieth century, local merchants and residents gathered here daily to settle business deals and exchange gossip over cups of green tea. The interior retains its original layout, with heavy wooden benches that have been polished smooth by generations of sitting customers.
