Rychegarte stands out for its high, timber-framed facade featuring decorative wooden carvings that date back to the late sixteen hundreds. This building served as the traditional home for the local magistrate, acting as the seat of legal authority for the town of Unterseen for generations. During the year sixteen seventy-four, a major fire destroyed much of the neighborhood, but the Rychegarte survived the flames due to its thick stone base and heavy oak timbers. It remains a rare example of early Swiss administration.
