Place du Temple

The Place du Temple is a paved square defined by the Neoclassical facade of the Temple de Carouge, which sits prominently at one end. King Victor Amadeus the Third ordered its construction in the late eighteenth century to provide a place of worship for the town's growing Protestant population. During the French occupation, the building briefly functioned as a municipal storehouse. A local clockmaker later donated the tower's prominent timepiece, which remains the square's most reliable reference for the neighborhood.
