The Danish Embassy at fifty-five Sloane Street is the final major work of the celebrated Danish architect Arne Jacobsen. Before this building opened in nineteen seventy-seven, the embassy was scattered across multiple separate locations on Pont Street and Cadogan Square. When the project began, the land sat empty for four years and served as a car park to mitigate financial losses for the Danish government. Today, the structure is shared with the Embassy of Iceland, reflecting a long history of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
