Eastman Dental Hospital

The Eastman Dental Hospital was born from an ambitious transatlantic vision to transform public health. In the late nineteen twenties, American philanthropist George Eastman, the founder of the Kodak Company, donated two hundred thousand pounds to establish a specialized clinic in London. His goal was to provide dental care to children in some of the city's poorest boroughs, modeled after a successful dispensary he had previously funded in his home city of Rochester, New York. When the clinic opened its doors in nineteen thirty, it aimed to normalize preventive oral hygiene for young patients who otherwise had little access to such care.
